December Update
The Hood home has dramatically changed since an outpouring of the Holy Spirit began at the university two weeks ago. Revival meetings are occurring most evenings to midnight and people are coming from all over the world. Charisma magazine recently completed an article on the outpouring. Dr. Adams is a Bible scholar and accomplished author, writing on subjects such as revival and city transformation.
An unusual move of the Holy Spirit has begun here this past week in KC. Since 1980 the Kansas City Prayer Movement has been praying for Revival and Spiritual Awakening in KC and beyond. Something amazing is beginning now. It started on Nov 4 in an International House of Prayer University/Forerunner School of Ministry (FSM) classroom. After a strong emphasis on deliverance from sexual trauma issues, self-hatred and self-image issues, there was an unusual purity in the room which then led to an outbreak of joy.
This continued off and on for about a week until the morning of Nov 11 when a major outbreak of the Holy Spirit's presence manifested in healings, deliverances and much joy. People began texting until the sanctuary where several classes and others were gathering was filling. It continued in the afternoon until by evening, the whole sanctuary was full with about 1500 very hungry people for this unscheduled meeting. This continued through the night until 6 a.m. Thursday morning when they shut it down for a few hours. That first day's fruit was accompanied with convincing healing testimonies, heart wrenching deliverance testimonies, and many outbreaks of joy which gave solid validity to what God was doing.
At 6 a.m. Thursday morning, IHOP's prayer room began to experience outbreaks of joy and many pockets of body-ministry all across the room. By 9 a.m. the FSM classes began and renewal broke out again. Texting continued! That evening from 6 p.m. to midnight, not only was the main sanctuary full but the overflow gym was nearly full—total about 2000 people—again for an unscheduled and unannounced public meeting! The meetings have been going for 5 nights and will continue indefinitely.
Among the many amazing things happening, several things stand out:
1. The spiritual hunger of the people. How is it possible for 2000 people to gather without a scheduled meeting well in advance? When the fire of God’s presence comes, so do people—from everywhere—longing to encounter the Lord! They're not hungry for a church service or entertaining program, they want to encounter God himself! People were willing to abruptly interrupt their schedule on a moment's notice in order to be in HIS Presence. And they’ve not been disappointed! People are staying for many hours because the Holy Spirit is being hosted and allowed to personally touch their lives.
- A few of the many testimonies include—
- Hearing impairment healed...numbers of ears popping open
- Back mobility restored...literally cracking and popping...instant pain relief
- Sight impairment healed... don't need glasses anymore
- Eating disorders and residual organ dysfunction healed
- Tumors dissolved and disappeared
- A young woman (20s) who has been largely bedridden with serious sclerosis and migraine headaches the past 4 months was healed of both Sunday night and now has no pain.
- ALL kinds of emotional healing and breakthroughs accompanied with tears of joy
- Testimonies of people watching these meetings all over the world and are experiencing salvation and healings while viewing the web broadcasts. A witch in the UK was saved Sunday night as a result of watching God TV; when calling the phone-line, she got one of the IHOP students as a counselor who led her to Christ. Another IHOP student from England was able to pray by phone with her father for the first time who has been a hostile atheist.
- Over 80 water baptisms have occurred as a result of the meetings.
The building is now full every night to overflowing and people are already coming from other states and countries to touch what God is doing. It remains to be seen what all God will do in the days ahead as the meetings continue for an indefinite period of time.
